Home Sweet Cone Inventory
A tablet-first inventory and ordering system for a beloved local chain of ice cream shops
Problem
A growing ice cream shop was running inventory on antiquated spreadsheets and reordering on instinct. Stockouts hit hard on weekends, and end-of-day reconciliation took the managers extra hours past close. They wanted something a teenager could use on a tablet without training - and the owner could trust on a Sunday night.
Solution
We built a tablet-first inventory and ordering web application. The manager dashboard pulls par levels and weekly trends and writes orders straight to the warehouse; the warehouse personnel receive, pack, and ship the order without a single action from the owners. The owner watches the health and status of each store from the comfort of their couch. Supabase handles auth and Postgres; the whole thing was scoped tightly to ship in three weeks.
Impact
- Stockouts on top SKUs dropped to near zero across the first summer season
- End-of-day close shrank from 60+ minutes to under 15
- Owner now spends Sundays with family instead of reconciling spreadsheets
